600 Monsters Strong for Connecticut

The holidays are hectic, the flu has plagued my home, and tragedy is everywhere. These are all reasons why my blog has been a bit quiet these days. I mentioned Sandy Hook briefly, yesterday when I spoke of the charities I contributed cards to this year. I sent a general card to Sandy Hook Elementary hoping that my message for peace and love and healing will mean something to someone in these difficult times.

In case you haven't heard, I wanted to bring to your attention this campaign. It is called 600 Monsters Strong for Connecticut and it is a knitting/crochet group for a crafty act of love donation for the month of January. There's a Facebook page, but it is essentially a Ravelry group of needle workers vowing to send little monsters to cheer up the students of Sandy Hook Elementary.

There's already a list of approved monsters for either knit or crochet, and you can make your own if you want as long as you meet the guidelines. I might make a couple little Cthulhus, but I might also make Lark the Monster from the pre-approved list. I made a button to share in case any one else wants a pretty button:
